the Dr. Quinn Discussion List
Do
you love Dr. Quinn, the characters, the stories, the history,
and everything else about the show? You've come to the right
place.
The
Dr. Quinn Discussion List began in 1994 when a few viewers realized
there were others out there who were as interested in the show
as they were. It began with a handful of e-mails back and forth,
but one participant, Cynthia F., decided to start a discussion
list, so others could join as well. What
began as a small group of members has now grown to over 800
members, covering six continents, over 30 countries and ages
ranging from twelve to eighty. This list was responsible for
the "Save Dr. Quinn" campaign in 1998 when the show
was canceled, and their protests persuaded CBS to to make not
one, but two Dr. Quinn movies. The members are well-known by
TV executives as well as the cast/crew of the show.
Discussion
centers around reviews of the episodes, the historical events
behind the show, personal accounts from meeting cast/crew, behind-the-scenes
stories from the set, fan fiction written by its members, and
reports of cast appearances around the world. Fun, laughter
and good times are shared with others who love Dr. Quinn and
share interests on a wealth of topics stemming from the show.
If
you are interested in joining, here's what you need to do:
1)
Send an e-mail to "listserv@listserv.uga.edu"
2)
Put "Subscribe DQMW-L" in the subject of the e-mail
3)
Put "Subscribe DQMW-L (your name)"
in the body of the e-mail; replace your
name with the name you wish you use for the List, and
be certain to keep the ( ) around it.
4)
Send the e-mail, and you will receive a confirmation of your
request within a few minutes. When you are subscribed, you will
receive a welcome letter and list guidelines. Unfortunately,
they are outdated and there's been some problems getting the
updated versions loaded onto the List server. But, you can view
and copy/paste them from the List
