As
Colorado Springs' Commisioner, Sully opposes a deal to mine
for copper to make electricity. In order to sway Sully's decision,
Mr. Garrick threatens Sully. Sully and Michaela's daughter,
Katie, is then kidnapped while the town celebrates Michaela's
birthday. The search for Katie takes Sully, Micheala, and
their friends on an adventure through Mexico that is filled
with danger at every turn.

Michaela
and Sully travel by train to Boston with their children Brian
and Katie to attend Colleen's graduation from medical school.
Upon arriving, they find that Michaela's mother is just about
to be released from the hospital with instructions for complete
bedrest. Colleen must face the fact that a woman doctor will
not be welcomed at any Boston medical office. Brian gets a
job at the Boston Globe while everyone is busy with Colleen's
graduation and his Grandmother's failing health. A group of
enterprising businessmen threaten Sully when he refuses to
cooperate with their dishonorable schemes in taking land away
from the Indians.
